About the Event

New Inn Farm is a garden situated 900ft up in the Black Mountains of Wales. The owner has been working on the garden since 2007 and has found the luxury of South African vegetation and Japanese gardens to be his greatest influences. Here in the teeth of the wind are complex perennial plantings, green terraces and hedging, and a steep moss woodland of several acres. He states that the most pleasurable and important lesson of all has been learning to make a garden that is completely at home in its deep-rural setting.  Parking is limited at the venue - it would be appreciated if people car-share if they possibly can.  This garden visit will be £15 per person (£17 for non-members) to include tea/coffee and cake, and will commence at 2:00pm.

For those who are interested, there is also the opportunity to visit the nearby garden, Nant-y-Bedd.  Nant-y-Bedd is a 6.5 acre organic garden and woodland located at 1200 feet up in the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Sue has been gardening here for 40 years, assisted over the past 20 or so years by Ian.  Slowly but surely the garden has grown and evolved with various projects being added over the years,  including the natural swimming pond, the shepherd’s hut, tree-sculpture Cedric and most recently, the treehouse. This garden visit (purely optional) is £10 per person (£12 for non-members), also to include tea/coffee and cake on arrival, and will commence at 11:30am.  For those attending, please note that there are few venues in the locality for eating - it is advisable to bring a picnic with you for your lunch.

The location details provided are for New Inn Farm: if you are attending the Nant-y-Bedd visit, then you will need to use directions that will be sent to you separately on booking! However, the garden's own directions can be found here.
